Diamonds are the hardest element in this planet. This along with their great beauty has made diamonds one of the more costly luxuries on earth. Many people covet this precious gem and many opt to get a fake diamond due to financial restraints. There are many different kinds of fake diamonds. A fake diamond earring may be easy to spot, especially if this is made of glass or crystal. On the other hand, there are now many different advances in technology that has permitted the manufacture of a fake diamond which is not as easy to spot. This advancement makes the task to buy diamond earrings and other diamond jewelry difficult since there are unscrupulous people who wish to make a tidy profit with a fake diamond earring or ring.

Fake Diamonds

There are many other reasons to invest in a fake diamond. Many people use fake diamond earrings as costume jewelry. Costume jewelry is something that is totally outrageous sometimes when it comes to their design. A fake diamond earring can be as big as a robin’s egg or a modestly sized stud. The smaller the costume jewelry the easier it is to believe that it is not a fake. A fake diamond earring is easy to spot due to the inappropriateness of the size of the stone. Many people believe that the bigger the rock the more people think it is real but this is not true, especially when it comes to who is actually wearing the fake diamond earring. Celebrities can wear a fake diamond earring and still be bale to pull it off since many believe that he or she can afford the real thing.

Other people like to buy moissannite diamonds which are highly similar to real diamonds except fort he fact that these are made by man. These kinds of man made diamonds are difficult to differentiate from the real thing in the eyes of an inexperienced person. A fake diamond earring made of moissannite may have better qualities than the real thing. This is another aspect that may lend disbelief to the fake diamond earring. Manmade diamonds are practically perfect compared to the real thing. Most real diamonds have flaws in them.

It may be a good idea to invest in a fake diamond earring or ring just for daily use. This way it will not be as shocking to lose the fake jewelry compared to losing the real thing.

Diamonds are a great investment since their prices usually go up and up. Many parents who can afford to give their baby a diamond earring usually invest in this kind of jewelry for future and present use. A baby diamond earring has certain requirements for the baby to actually wear it.

Size And Design

Choosing a baby diamond earring needs to be done carefully to avoid the loss of the jewelry and the injury of the baby. Ideally, a baby diamond earring should be a stud earring made of gold about 14 karats and above. Stud earring are those which are designed to stay put and are supposed to be difficult to catch on the hair, clothes and other baby things. Basically, the size of stud earrings for babies is supposed to no more than a few centimeters in diameter. This will help prevent entanglement compared to dangly earrings.

Some baby diamond earrings are designed to be set deep into the setting with no protrusions. This kind of design is ideal and quite modern but other designs may also suffice as long as it is a stud design.

Gold And Hygiene

The reason for using gold with a higher content is to avoid allergic reactions to other alloys mixed in gold with lower quantities of pure gold. A fake diamond earring can suffice but it should still be made of at least 14 karats gold to prevent allergic reactions in the baby. Some jewelry makers make their gold settings from white gold, which is less of an allergenic than lower forms or karats or yellow gold. A baby diamond earring should use gold which is no less than 14 karats since babies have sensitive skin.

Other than making sure that the quality of the gold baby diamond earrings is high, the piercing should also be done in a hygienic way to avoid infection of the wound. A pediatrician is better at this than mall piercing since the cleanliness of the equipment use for ear piercings in a mal may be less than that of a doctor’s clinic.

When To Put

Many people have different opinions about when is the ideal time to put a baby diamond earring on the baby. Some pediatricians recommend putting the earrings right after birth to lessen the trauma of the ear piercing when the baby has grown a few years. Some parents, on the other hand, wish to wait for their daughters to be of the right age before putting on earrings. Some wait for their daughter to be ten or eleven before doing anything about the ear piercing.

So you are going to purchase a beautiful pair of diamond earrings for that special woman in your life. Regardless of the reason for the gift—be it a holiday, a birthday, or an anniversary—buying diamond earrings for your special someone is a great idea. Any woman will love to add another pair of earrings to her collection. However, you might be wondering what type of diamond earrings to purchase for her. There are countless different types of diamond earrings to purchase, and the sheer amount of variety can be overwhelming!

Types Of Diamond Earrings Available

There are many different types of diamond earrings. You can purchase diamond hoop earrings or diamond drop earrings or even diamond stud earrings. The key to getting the right type of diamond earrings for your special someone is to find something that you know she will like. There are a couple of ways to find out exactly what your significant other will really like. First, look in her jewelry box. What type of earrings do you see there? If she has quite a few different types of diamond hoop earrings, she might, for example, like to add another type of diamond hoop earring to her jewelry collection. Of course, if she already has a dozen or so different types of diamond hoop earrings, she might not want to add another pair of diamond hoop earrings to her jewelry box. The second way to find out what type of diamond earrings you should get for your special someone is to take note of what she likes to wear. She might have a dozen different types of earrings in her jewelry box but only really wear one specific type. Make note of what she wears on a regular basis to see what she prefers to wear. The third way to find out what type of earrings she prefers is to simply ask her. Though this might ruin the surprise, at least you know that what you end up purchasing will be the right pair of diamond earrings for her.

Where To Shop

If you need help deciding what type of diamond earrings to purchase, you might want to make sure to shop at a jewelry store and not a department store. At a jewelry store there will be someone who can help you and get to know your specific circumstance. At a department store, you might not be able to get the personalized help that you need. However, at a jewelry store they know everything from baby diamond earrings to adult diamond earrings and they will know exactly how to help you.

If you are like most men, chances are at some point in your life you will find yourself purchasing jewelry for a woman. Most women love jewelry, and many men see it as the perfect gift for nearly any special occasion. Before the relationship is serious, the man can purchase small jewelry gifts to win the woman’s affection. After the relationship becomes serious, many men continue to purchase jewelry gifts to bring a smile to their special someone’s face or to celebrate a special occasion.

What Jewelry To Purchase

When purchasing jewelry for someone else, it is important to take into consideration a few things. First, what does your special someone already have in her jewelry box? If, for example, she has a set of diamond earrings that simply sit there and are never worn, chances are she does not want another pair that closely resembles those earrings. Instead, look at what she does wear. Does she wear drop earrings or post earrings? If she seems to prefer drop earrings, you could easily get her a set of diamond drop earrings that would be simply stunning. Or, if she prefers post earrings, there are countless different styles and colors for diamond post earrings.

Second, you must take into account the personality of your special someone. While nearly every woman would love to have more diamond jewelry, there are some women who do not like diamonds for various reasons. If your special someone does not like the way that diamonds are mined or how the people who mine them are treated, look for diamonds that are mined in a more humane manner. If she simply does not like diamonds at all, try another precious gem or stone. You could find almost any piece of jewelry with a sapphire or ruby instead of a diamond.

Where To Purchase Jewelry

While you may think that it does not matter where you purchase jewelry, it actually does matter. Though a diamond is a diamond, you are going to find much better quality diamonds at higher quality stores. There is a reason that the diamond necklace is priced lower at a department store than at a jewelry store. If you want a high quality piece of jewelry and are willing to pay a decent amount of money for it, look at jewelry stores, not department stores. Plus, when your special someone sees the box and where it is from, she will know that you really took time and consideration to purchase her a quality piece of jewelry.

Brought to you by affordable emerald cut engagement rings. There are many reasons why you may want to sell a Gem that you own. Perhaps you’ve gotten divorced, or you are strapped for cash. The reasons why don’t really matter – getting the best possible price is what counts! The way to obtain the best price for the Diamond Gem is to not be in a rush. Slow down, and carefully consider all of your options – there are many.

First, have the Diamond appraised. In fact, have it appraised by two or three jewelers to get an accurate idea of the Gem Gems value. Tell the appraiser that you want the Rapaport Value. This is the wholesale value of the Diamond Gem, and it basically tells you the highest price that you can sell your Gem for. If your Diamond Gem has no certificate, you should consider getting a certificate from GIA. This may help you get a better price for the Diamond Gem as well.

First, try to sell the Diamond Gem yourself, to people you know. Friends and family members may be interested. If you don’t have any luck with friends or family members, you should turn to outside sources. Absolutely avoid pawn shops! A pawn shop will only offer you about 10% of what the Diamond Gem is worth! Also avoid offers of selling the ring on consignment. There are many things that can go wrong, and there is no shortage of Gem scams – even in well known jewelry stores.

If the Gem is important, you should strongly consider auctioning it off through one of the famous auction houses, such as Christie’s or Sotheby’s. If it isn’t what is considered an ‘important’ Diamond or a high-end Gem, you should try to sell it to an individual using classified ads, or even eBay. However, selling to an individual that you do not know could put you in danger – especially if the Gem is worth a lot of money.

Your final option should be a jewelry store. It is vital that you not let your Diamond out of your sight while in the jewelry store – you might find that the Diamond you walked in with is not the same Gem that you walk out with! The jeweler will try to tell you that your Gem is of poor quality or low weight. Inevitably, there will be some problem with the Gem. This is where your appraisal and/or certificate will come in handy.

If the jeweler is fair, they will offer you between 60% and 80% of the value of the Rapaport Value. Do not accept anything less than this. Again, do not let the Diamond Gem out of your sight until you have been paid for it.

Brought to you by cheap cushion cut diamond engagement rings. Pricing most products is quite easy. Determine how much it costs to make the item, how much it costs to market that item, and then mark it up by 15 – 30% or more. Simple, right? Well, pricing Diamond Gems isn’t quite that simple. There are many factors that are considered when Diamonds are priced.

Diamonds prices are determined first by adding the cost of the rough Diamond Gems, the cost of cutting the Gems, and all other costs necessary to turn the rough Diamond Gems into a marketable Diamonds. Depending on the importance of the Diamonds, an independent company may be called in to certify the grade of the Diamond Gems based on colour, cut, clarity, and weight.

At this point, the Diamond Gems becomes more expensive each time it changes hands, until it finally reaches a retailer, where the price is raised a bit more. Before reaching the retailer, however, the Diamonds must travel from the mine, to the cutter and polisher, to the independent grading company, and then to the Primary market. Once it has reached the primary market, it will be purchased by Gems dealers and wholesalers, and from there it will be sold to retailers.

As you can see, the earlier you can purchase a Diamonds in the process, the lower the cost of the Gems will be – but not the value. The value is based on what the Gems will sell for in the market place – through a retailer.

If you own a Diamond Gems, and you have no idea how much it is worth, you can have it appraised, but the appraisal may not be accurate. You will be better off obtaining a certificate through GIA – Gemological Institute of America. With the information on this certificate, you can use a cutter’s guide to accurately determine what your Gems is worth.

There are also many Diamonds price calculators available. These can be found on the Internet, and many Gems dealers use these as well. You must realize, however, that before you can accurately price a Gems, without a Gems Grade Report, you need to know quite a bit about Diamond Gems, such as different cuts, clarity, color, and weight – and how each of those aspects adds to the value of a Diamonds, or decreases the value of the Diamonds as the case may be.

Again, you will be better off if you get a Diamonds Grading Report on the Diamond Gems, and use that information to look up the price in one of the guides that the Diamond Gems cutting industry uses. This will give you the most accurate value of the Diamond Gems in your possession, or of the Gems you are considering purchasing.

The Kimberley Process is an initiative by governments, industry leaders and civil societies to curtail the flow of conflict diamonds. Conflict diamonds are rough diamonds used by rebel movements to finance wars against governments. These illicit stones have fueled devastating conflicts in countries such as Angola, Cote d’Ivoire, Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) imposes strict requirements on its members to enable them to certify shipments of rough diamonds are “conflict free.”

The United Nations in 1997 placed Angola under sanctions which forbid countries from buying diamonds from them. This was the first resolution that specifically mentioned diamonds along with funding a war. In the 1990’s it was estimated that 20% of the total production of diamonds were being sold for illegal purposes. By 1999 the illegal diamond trade was reported to have been reduced to 3.06% by the World Diamond Council.

Southern African diamond producing companies met in May of 2000 to plan a method that would halt the trading of conflict diamonds. In 2001 the diamond industry main figures convened and formed the World Diamond Council. They set out to draft a new process where rough diamonds could be certified as coming from a non conflict source.

The biggest weakness of the Kimberley Process is how it is monitored. Any country can become a member of the Kimberley Process just by sending a letter to the European Commission president. Even if the country doesn’t meet the standards of the Kimberley Process it can still become a member. Some conflict diamonds still manage to pass the Kimberley Certification Scheme. However, there has been a vast improvement in the war to fight conflict diamonds.

The Kimberley system increases the transparency of governments by forcing them to keep records of the diamonds they are exporting and importing and how much they are worth. This means that a government can be accountable for spending for the benefit of the country’s population because it is known how much the government has made.

The US prohibited importation of rough diamonds from Sierra Leone in accordance with the UN resolution. It also banned importation from Liberia because they were recognized as acting like a pipeline for conflict diamonds. The KPCS became law in the United States in 2003 and was one of the major reasons this scheme could succeed. That is because the US is the largest consumer of diamonds.

A conflict free diamond is one whose profit has not been used to fund wars. It is also produced and mined under ethical conditions. Conflict free diamonds are those that can be traced all the way from the mine to the consumer. Blood diamonds are still a concern, but with the Kimberley Process in place it makes the world more aware of the problem. When looking for a diamond of any sort, make sure the jeweler uses KPCS diamonds.

The discovery of diamonds in 1867 in the Cape Colony of South Africa had a profound effect on the world’s supply of diamonds. Western society had easier access to a once rare commodity that had been discovered ten years earlier. Scientists learned that diamonds came from volcanoes. South Africa remains at the top of the industry as the primary diamond producer but other famous mines are loacted in other areas.

In North America the oldest and most famous diamond mine is the Crater of Diamonds. It is located in Murfreesboro, Arkansas. In 1906, a man named John Wesley Huddleston bought the land to farm and found two litle stones in the bottom of a a bucket of feed. He sent the stones to a Little Rock Jeweler who then sent them to Tiffany’s in New York. They were certified as gem quality. He then sold the property for $36,000 to some people in Little Rock.

De Beers Consolidated Mines are located in several African countries. The company was founded in 1888 and today it is comprised of rough diamond exploration, mining and trading companies. 40% of the world's diamond production comes fro mDe Beers companies.

The Kimberley Diamond Mines are known worldwide and are located in the town of Kimberley, South Africa. In 1866 Erasmus Jacobs discovered a small stone by the Orange River. It turned out that is stone was a 21.25 carat diamond. In 1871 a 83.5 carat diamond was found on the slopes of Colesberg Kopje and this led to the first diamond rush in the area.

The Williamson Diamond Mine, which is also known as the Mwadui Mine is located in Tanzania. It became the first significant mine that was located outside of South Africa. Dr John Williamson, a Canadian geologist established the mine in 1940. It is an operating pit mine and mainly produces diamond carats.

The Premier Diamond Mine located in Transvaal, South Africa is one of the most famous mines and is known throughout the world. This mine was found to be a huge volcanic chimney of diamondiferous earth. It is shaped like a pear and covers about 80 acres. It is situated on a level plateau at an elevation of about two hundred feet.

The Ekati Diamond Mine is Canada’s first diamond mine. It is located near Lac de Gras and is about 200km south of the Arctic Circle. It is a joint venture between BHP Billiton Diamonds and the two geologists who discovered the kimberlite pipes in that area. It is only accessible by air except for 10 weeks each year when it can be reached by icy roads.

The Kollur Diamond Mine is located in Guntur District Golkonda, India. It is one of the most productive mines in India and was the first major diamond center. It was operated between the sixteenth and mid nineteenth centuries. The Indian mines were eventually depleted and the diamond center shifted to Brazil where new diamond pipes were discovered.

These are just a few of the more famous diamond mines known today. Diamonds have a very interesting history and also a very bright future.
