Finally, A Breitling Designer Watch Being Offered For Divers

When choosing luxury designer watches, many fine brand names spring to mind.  As many know, Breitling has been synonymous with quality for well over a century, and are most noted for making mechanical aviation watches with giant faces.  What is news is that lately they recently introduced a quartz model – and one apparently targeted more at pro deep sea divers! The Aeromarine Avenger Seawolf Chronograph was Breitling’s newest offering at last year’s Basel watchmakers’ convention.  This famous yearly watchmakers’ trade fair saw the company take an aggressive approach towards what could be called “the diving demographic,” perhaps looking to penetrate it how they have the market of aviators ( and, let’s face it, of aviator-wannabes and posers ).  This review will take a fast look at this latest model’s key selling points and resolve whether it’s worth the nearly 3 grand American!

As far as sturdiness goes the Aeromarine Avenger Seawolf Chronograph is built to last.  It’s a extremely rugged telephone that can take some punishment and still be functional.First things first the Aeromarine Avenger Seawolf Chronograph is water resistant.  Many designer watches in fact are water protected but the Aeromarine Avenger Seawolf Chronograph will still run even if it is submerged 300 feet ( 1,000 meters ) underwater.  Most watches will simply cease to function thanks to the extraordinary pressure. Breitling allegedly has found a way to guarantee the Aeromarine Avenger Seawolf Chronograph is functional under such tough conditions.  The watch housing comprises curved sapphire crystals and brushed titanium.  These materials permit the Aeromarine Avenger Seawolf Chronograph to have an anti-reflective surface.  For extreme saturation diving the Aeromarine Avenger Seawolf Chronograph has a helium release valve built in also.  For perfect viewing in low light situations the bezel is engraved and has a luminescent marker.  The Breitling logo is chicly placed on the back of the case.

Aeromarine Avenger Seawolf Chronograph watch dials are available in blue, grey, and yellow.  The date is handily displayed next to 3 o’clock.  To round off the customization of this designer watch one can get the Aeromarine Avenger Seawolf Chronograph with the pro divers leather strap or the titanium bracelet.

Of specific interest is the Super Quartz movement, which is ten times more accurate than the standard found in standard quartz watches.  Such accuracy is alleged to be done by making the movement delicate to the changes in temperature that cause most quartz modules to lose or gain time.  Being thus thermo compensated means the Aeromarine Avenger Seawolf Chronograph is, in effect, self-correcting.  There’s a regatta timer, as well as the standard timepiece feature-set, for yacht races which need measurement in ten minute scales.

One of the more prominent things about the Aeromarine Avenger Seawolf Chronograph is the magnetically activated push pieces.  These push pieces permit the Aeromarine Avenger Seawolf Chronograph to be completely sealed against the elements and foreign damage.  Anybody ( deep sea divers mainly ) who are in need of a durable and sturdy watch will certainly benefit from purchasing the Aeromarine Avenger Seawolf Chronograph.

Your Guide to Buying a Watch

Posted by diamondjim on Sunday, 16 August, 2009 @ 2:39 pm

So you've got back from the shops with that perfect outfit and all that is left to finish it off is for you to find the ideal designer watch. For watch novices out there, here is a guide to the various types you can expect to find.

Whether you are looking for a mens designer watch or a ladies designer watch you must first make the choice of display you prefer.Analogue watches have a face with hour and minute hands whereas digital watches have either an LCD (liquid crystal display) or LED (light emitting diode) display that tells the time in the numeric form.  Analogue watches tend to be considered the more formal.

Designer watches can be powered in various different ways.Digital watches are powered by a tiny watch battery and quartz watches and mechanical watches are powered by a precise arrangement of gears and springs, which is why they tend to cost more.Bear in mind that mechanical watches tend to lose their time over the course of a year and need to be wound regularly.

The casing refers to the watch's frame. For analogue watches the shape may be round, square, rectangular or even polyagonal.  The finish can be shiny, patterned or jewelled so there are enough stlyes for you to choose your preferance.

The watch crystal refers to the transparent cover protecting the face of the designer watch. This may be made of plexiglass, traditional mineral flass or synthetic sapphire which is an extremely hard clear crystal.

The last aspect of your watch to decide upon is the watch strap (or band). An analogue watch will be made of leather or a metal that will match the case.Digital watches and in particular sports watches usually have plastic watch bands.

The only thing to decide is the particular make and model of the designer watch that you wish to purchase.  Unfortunately only you know what budget you can afford and what style will suit you best!

Buying the Right Designer Watch for you - 7 Handy Hints

Posted by diamondjim on Sunday, 12 July, 2009 @ 4:38 pm

Unsurprisingly, most people will want to have a watch so they can keep time.  For some, it is also an important fashion accessory – so when they come to buy a designer watch it is important that they choose the right one. Here are a few top tips which could help you to choose the right watch.

1)  Whether you are looking to buy a mens designer watch or a ladies designer watch it is important to set a budget.Once you have set yourself an affordable price limit you can start to eliminate things that are unrealistic.

2) Have you thought to what you will be using your watch for?  Apart from keeping good time, have you decided whether you will be looking to buy a designer watch that is more suitable for everyday or formal wear?

3) When you have made a decision on the style, you will need to choose which movement you require. This refers to inner workings of the watch, of which there are three different types: quartz, mechanical and digital.A quartz watch uses a tiny vibrating crystal - these are highly accurate.Mechanical watches rely on small springs and gears - these watches are quite expensive and not as accurate. The digital watch is powered by battery and is cheaper, although considered to be a more casual style of watch.

4) Make sure you get the correct size watch face.A regular size watch face on a large man could look like a ladies watch.  Also, you should look for quality construction of the bezel (polished) and the case.

5)  Is the watch water resistant or waterproof?Water resistant means that the watch is fine if it is splashed with water, whereas waterproof watches are rated by depth.

6) Look at the crystal - this is the clear covering of the watch's face.Plexiglass is cheapest, however it scratches fairy easily but is difficult to shatter.Mineral crystal is more expensive and more likely to shatter but it is less likely to get scratched.Synthetic sapphire is most expensive and it is almost scratch proof however it is quite easy to shatter.

7)  The strap can be metal, leather cloth or plastic. This is a personal choice but do make sure that your choice is based on comfort especially if you are likely to use it for more active outdoor pursuits.
