Blast from the Past: Name Jewelry

Posted by diamondjim on Saturday, 29 August, 2009 @ 7:38 am

You might have been one of the little tots on the playground back in the day, sporting the latest craze in sneakers. And around your wrist, you might have had a little glint whenever you moved your hand. Or maybe it was a flash of gold or silver around your neck that you liked to stop and fiddle with from time to time. As a child, nothing could be considered more precious than getting a little piece of jewelry with your name on it. When you’re young, your name is still so new to you. The meaning behind it, the spelling, and the subtle curves of the letters when you wrote it on paper were still fascinating. To see your name embossed in gold or rhinestones was nothing short of a miracle. It was a proud moment to be able to actually wear your name in shining letters. Whether it was a necklace or name rings, as a child the gift was phenomenal.

But as you grow, the wonder tends to die. A person can grow so accustomed to writing their name on essay after essay, or signing endless credit card bills, that the wonder and mystery of a person’s name is gone. It’s a travesty, because a name is the most precious possession a person has. The meaning of a name holds so much power over who you become, it would be awful to lose sight of it. Some people may find that name jewelry appeals more to children. And yet, it can hold even more sentimental value for adults. After years of evolving with your name, maybe taking nicknames or learning a different way to write it, a name becomes the most inseparable part of you. A tasteful necklace or ring with your name engraved upon it can only add to your self-being and growth.

There isn’t a lacking of such jewelry in the world. It is a marvelous idea to even add more meaning to an heirloom or ring, which you already hold dear, and have your name carved into it. And the idea of a name on jewelry is also a great present idea. Jewelry gifts can be daunting to pick out when selections are so wide and varied. But getting someone you love a piece of jewelry with their name on it makes it all the more personal and thoughtful.

So whether or not you were one of the kids sporting jewelry with your name on it as a kid, look to the present. It’s never too late to embrace your inner love for your name.

Inspiration Through Jewelry

Posted by diamondjim on Tuesday, 25 August, 2009 @ 4:08 pm

There are endless sources of inspiration around us each and every day. While some people find inspiration in religious scripture, others have more secular messages that motivate and comfort them. What better way to show someone how much you care about them then by giving them a gift of jewelry personalized with a powerful inspirational message chosen just for them. Everyone has his or her own unique inspiration, adding yours to jewelry will personalize and customize your next jewelry gift.

With a touch of creativity, inspirational jewelry can include rings, and necklaces that carry your special message. These messages can include meaningful passages from a religious text such as the Bible and are often very beautifully accented with designs and gems. Personalized necklace pendants, rings, bracelets and charms can be mementos that are treasured and passed down through the years. Often sterling silver or gold are the most common metals found in spiritual jewelry however there are other metals such as copper, palladium, platinum and white gold that are also popular. Typically the choice of metal will depend on what type of jewelry the person wears on a regular basis. Most people have a preference for either silver or gold, however there are others that wear an equal amount of both.

Choosing the message you want to include in a piece of inspirational personalized jewelry is a very personal decision. You’re obviously not limited to a spiritual message. You can use any phrase or words, even those that only have meaning to you. Some positive and affirming messages such as “I love you” or “You are a friend” can also be inspiring and very meaningful as additions to personalized rings, necklaces, pendants and bracelets. Other common themes include symbols of love, peace, courage, and hope. Crosses and hearts have long been seen as both inspiration and spiritual symbols used on a variety of types of jewelry from wedding bands to graduation rings and pendants.

Designing a unique inspirational piece of jewelry can start by browsing through online websites or even just looking through jewelry stores in your area. With the wide variety of online shopping options you may be able to find just want you want without having to design it yourself. You can also use these sites for inspiration yourself, choosing the features of different types of jewelry to develop just what you are hoping to achieve with your own design.

Custom Wedding Rings Make a Personal Statement

Posted by diamondjim on Friday, 14 August, 2009 @ 6:11 am

For those looking for something a little different for their wedding rings, there is nothing better then getting personalized wedding rings. There are so many people who end up with the same bands and engagement rings that they tend to all start to look alike. While some people may not mind this at all, there are many other people who can truly appreciate having custom wedding rings as a way to mark their special day. Showing each other how much you care and love one another can be accomplished through such personalized jewelry.

Having one of a kind rings are also a way of bringing a little bit of the individual personalities to the wedding. What a wonderful way to express your love with words you choose. Perhaps its a special phrase that has meaning to the bridal couple that is ingraved on the inside or outside of the rings. Either way, it is a special way to show affection to one another.

For those who want a special ring but do not have anything off hand that they want to say, there are some simple suggestions that can turn any plain band into something special and personalized. Including the wedding date (especially in Roman numerals) is a very popular choice for personalization. You can have the date written out or have it engraved as elegant Roman numerals.

Adding the names of the happy couple is another great way to put together the personalized wedding rings. It could be a nickname that is used, just a first name, or a first name with the middle name or middle initial. Either way, names are a fantastic and very popular way to express individuality in the custom wedding rings. Those who are going through their second wedding together may want to go a different route though.

If the happy couple had a child or two together, the rings could be engraved with the names of their children making it all that much more special. Special savings or phrases are another popular way of expressing the undying love the couple has for one another. The words true love, soul mate, forever, and twin souls are just a few words that could be used for personalized wedding rings.

Once you have decided what type of words or sayings you want engraved in the rings, it is time to decide what language you want it in. English is the most common for those who reside in English speaking countries but that is not the only option. If you want to take heritage into consideration then you may want to have your personalized wedding rings engraved with a language that represents who you are. Chinese symbols are also a great way to express your love for one another and leaving the message secret from other people.

In the end it is all about what the two of you want as a couple. What makes it special for you will be different then what makes it special for someone else. Choose what you love and has meaning to you and you’ll express your personalily.
