Wedding rings are an extremely important symbol of a couple’s love for each other. As such, finding the right wedding rings for both the husband and the wife to be is the first major decision most couples will make together. Knowing what styles of wedding rings you both prefer and managing to combine these styles into one set of rings is sometimes a bit of a challenge, but one that will be important for the rest of your life.

Selecting a metal for your wedding rings is the first step most couples make. Different metals that are commonly used in wedding rings for men and wedding rings for women include different colors of gold, typically white, yellow or more rarely rose, platinum or silver .

Wedding rings for men and wedding rings for women can come in matching styles or they can be different from each other. Women that have matching engagement rings and wedding bands may be able to find a complimentary or matching men’s band to match the set, or they may opt for a gold or other metal band that is understated and simplistic. Many wedding rings come in matching sets for men and women, taking all the guesswork out of what will look good together.

Celtic rings are very popular as wedding rings for couples. These rings often are made of silver, white gold, palladium or platinum and tend to use intricate designs. Two toned rings of yellow gold and another metal are often used to highlight the very beauty of these designs. Celtic crosses, eternity knots and interwoven designs that symbolize eternal love. Gemstones in Celtic style wedding bands often range from diamonds to emeralds or combinations of both .

For a touch of tradition, antique or estate style wedding rings are popular for both men and women. These ring styles often include pave style diamonds that make the ring look encrusted with diamonds or gems. Very elaborate designs with regards to the settings of the diamonds in the band are also a key feature of antique or replica antique rings .

Although diamonds are often considered an essential part of wedding rings, they are not always found on the wedding bands. Many couples opt for a simple, classic and elegant band with or without pattern or design. Engraving and inset diamonds is a great way to add detail but still keep the ring simple and classic in style.

Modern styles of wedding rings tend to be sleek and sophisticated but not minimalistic or plain. Inset engraving of shapes, messages or patterns is very popular and provides a beautiful, low maintenance option for rings. Wider bands allow for larger patterns and more detail work .

Selecting the wedding rings that matches your couples’ style as well as your personal taste is important. Knowing what options for wedding rings are available does take some time, but it will allow you to select the ring that is perfect for your lifestyle as a symbol of your love for each other .

Choosing wedding rings is a big decision for any couple and one that going to continue to signify your love for each other throughout your lives together. Selecting wedding rings is often done together, especially if the couple is getting a matching set of wedding bands. Since there are so many different styles to select from, one of the most important considerations when choosing wedding rings is to be sure you look at lots of different styles before making your selection .

Often in the rush to choose wedding rings couples tend to find one ring style they like and immediately rush to make a purchase. While choosing the first ring you see may seem like a good idea, you may have buyer’s remorse once you stop and start looking around .

One excellent, stress free and very comfortable way to look at wedding rings for men as well as wedding rings for women is to use the internet. Browsing around on different websites will allow you to not only compare the styles of wedding rings available but it will also give you a better idea of prices and what to reasonably expect.

Typically jewelers and jewelry retail stores can offer slightly lower prices on many of the wedding rings offered online. Both wedding rings for men and wedding rings for women are often lower in price due to lower overhead costs for the store when selling online. There may also be some stores that offer selected styles of rings only online and not in their retail outlets, providing even more options.

Most people agree that an engagement ring should be equal in price to about two to three months salary; however there is no specific protocol for the amount to be spent on wedding rings. Generally style and preference of the couple will be more important in selecting wedding bands than the actual price of the rings.

Looking through jewelry stores is also a great way to discover what styles of wedding rings are appealling. Talking to a jeweler and learning the names of the different styles as well as the pros and cons of each style is important. Since not all styles are as practical as others this can also be an important consideration for some couples .

Some couples prefer a completely unique option for wedding rings. This can include a full custom design or selecting a specific loose diamond to go into an existing setting. Both options will provide an original ring for both the man and the woman, and can be styled to match your budget.

Not all couples may elect to have matching wedding rings. It is common when the woman’s engagement and wedding set is very ornate or interlocking to go with a simple, elegant and classic band for the man. These bands may have inset diamonds or details that compliment the bridal set .

Engagement rings and diamonds are typically always considered together, however most people have very little understanding of what makes a diamond a good selection of not. Diamonds in engagement rings or any other type of jewelry are graded on four different aspects or components. These four components include cut, clarity, carat and color .

Engagement ring settings with solitaire type diamonds are going to require the most flawless diamond possible that has good carat, cut and clarity in order to really shine and sparkle. Carat refers to the actual weight of the diamond. Each carat is equal to 0.2 grams and with a bit of practice it is easy to tell what general carat a diamond is.

Color actually refers to the lack of color within a diamond. For most engagement rings a G grade will mean that any slight colorations of the diamond are basically undetectable to the eye and the diamond will appear to be completely clear and colorless. Other options include a colored diamond or even diamond chips that have a very slight coloration of yellow. If the setting and band are gold, a very slight yellow coloration is often undetectable and can allow you to purchase a larger diamond for the same amount of money .

The grade for clarity actually checks or inclusions or internal blemishes within the diamond itself. All diamonds have some inclusions but most are so small to be virtually unnoticeable. The surface of the stone should also be free from any scratches or marks . Engagement rings that feature large solitaire diamonds should have the highest clarity since they are the focus of the ring. Slight imperfections are common in almost all but the most expensive diamonds and in small diamonds they are often so slight as to be virtually invisible. It is also important to choose ring settings that compliment a solitaire diamond rather than compete with the diamond.

Engagement rings that feature diamonds with a good cut are going to be more reflective and brilliant than those with a poor cut. Cut is not the same as the shape, rather it refers to the facets and if they are in the right location within the diamond to reflect the light through the gem. Cut is very important in larger, solitaire diamonds and is perhaps the most important factor in choosing the right stone for the setting .

Getting to know a bit about the 4 C’s of diamonds takes just a bit of time and practice. Looking at antique engagement rings is a good way to start, especially if you know what the diamond description is in the ring. This practice will help you in moving forward when shopping for diamonds to put in a setting or in traditional types of engagement rings .

Engagement rings that feature the best possible cut, color, clarity and carat to fit your budget are really the best option. Many jewelers can help maximize the beauty your choices in engagement rings by changing the shape of the diamond to maximize the 4 c’s given the style of ring you have selected .

If you are like most men, chances are at some point in your life you will find yourself purchasing jewelry for a woman. Most women love jewelry, and many men see it as the perfect gift for nearly any special occasion. Before the relationship is serious, the man can purchase small jewelry gifts to win the woman’s affection. After the relationship becomes serious, many men continue to purchase jewelry gifts to bring a smile to their special someone’s face or to celebrate a special occasion.

What Jewelry To Purchase

When purchasing jewelry for someone else, it is important to take into consideration a few things. First, what does your special someone already have in her jewelry box? If, for example, she has a set of diamond earrings that simply sit there and are never worn, chances are she does not want another pair that closely resembles those earrings. Instead, look at what she does wear. Does she wear drop earrings or post earrings? If she seems to prefer drop earrings, you could easily get her a set of diamond drop earrings that would be simply stunning. Or, if she prefers post earrings, there are countless different styles and colors for diamond post earrings

Second, you must take into account the personality of your special someone. While nearly every woman would love to have more diamond jewelry, there are some women who do not like diamonds for various reasons. If your special someone does not like the way that diamonds are mined or how the people who mine them are treated, look for diamonds that are mined in a more humane manner. If she usually hate diamonds, try another precious stone or gem. You could find almost any piece of jewelry with a ruby or sapphire instead of a diamond.

Where To Purchase Jewelry

While you may think that it does not matter where you purchase jewelry, it actually does matter. Though a diamond is a diamond, you are going to find much better quality diamonds at higher quality stores. There is a reason that the diamond necklace is priced lower at a department store than at a jewelry store. If you want a high quality piece of jewelry and are willing to pay a decent amount of money for it, look at jewelry stores, not department stores. Plus, when your special someone sees the box and where it is from, she will know that you really took time and consideration to purchase her a quality piece of jewelry.

3 Common Fights Before The Wedding

Getting engaged and planning your wedding is a time filled with subtle and potentially explosive emotions. The anticipation of the big day and the stress of making it perfect can play havoc on the relationship you share with your future spouse. A lot of engaged couples find themselves entrenched in bitter battles about things that can just as easily be discussed without screaming. Today, we’re going to explore 3 common topics that can quickly erupt into full-fledged fights between you and your significant other.

#1 – Wedding (And Honeymoon) Finances

Ladies should realize one thing: men will never truly understand the motivation that women feel for spending thousands of dollars on a dress. Given that your dress will likely never be worn again, you can understand where they’re coming from. On the other hand, guys can easily justify blowing Junior’s college fund on a honeymoon in an exotic location. The key is to approach the wedding and honeymoon finances equitably. You can both enjoy the honeymoon. But, your fiance won’t be able to use the dress.

#2 – You Don’t Like His Friends

He’s selected his groomsmen and you’ve seen the list. It includes a few of his old fraternity brothers and a friend with a drinking problem. You’re already envisioning the worst for the big day: a drunken brawl, an inattentive – if even sober – fiance, and other shenanigans. Take a breath before launching an aggressive campaign to bar his chosen groomsmen. If you react angrily, he’ll either respond in kind or think that you’re being unreasonable. Avoid an unnecessary fight by expressing your concerns. Ideally, your future husband will commit to keeping his friends – and himself – in check.

#3 – Inviting His Ex

You know your fiance is a good guy. That’s one of the reasons why you’ve agreed to marry him. But, good guys have a tendency to stay friends with their ex-girlfriends. Meanwhile, you wouldn’t complain if each of his past flames were to fall off a cliff. Trouble often erupts when he wants to invite one of them to the wedding. If you feel your temper rising, take a moment to consider that he wants to marry you, not his ex. Fighting about it will only make you seem petty. Instead, be open to inviting her.

It’s Not Worth It

Your engagement should be a time filled with excitement, parties, and looking forward to spending a happy life with your future husband. Don’t spoil it by fighting about small matters. Instead, approach every issue objectively without screaming or lobbing petty insults. By the time your wedding finally arrives, you’ll find that doing so has helped you build an even stronger relationship with your sweetheart.

The perfect gift is a Diamond Stud Earring and Diamond Jewelry from http://www.barskydiamonds.com

Diamond Cuts

Has the special girl in your life said something like “I want a Princess cut,” or “I think Marquis diamonds are beautiful?” You might have absolutely no idea what she is talking about. First of all, if she is talking about diamonds in the aforementioned context, she may be hinting that it is time for a proposal. Or maybe you have already discussed it, and she is politely telling you exactly what she wants to wear on her right ring finger for the rest of her life.

Whatever your case may be, choosing the perfect diamond can be daunting especially if you have never purchased one before. The following is a list of the different cuts of diamonds and a brief explanation of each to help educate you about this purchase.

•	Asscher-This cut of diamond is identical to the emerald cut, except that it is square in shape, as opposed to the rectangular emerald cut diamond
•	Cushion-Cushion-cut diamonds range from square to rectangle in shape. They are commonly referred to as pillow-cut diamonds because of their distinctive shape. What sets them apart is the larger facets and the rounded edges
•	Emerald-The emerald cut diamond is rectangular in shape. What makes this cut stand out is its pavilion (the area of the diamond from the tip (or culet) to the girdle (the intersection of the crown and the pavilion) which is cut into stair-step type facets
•	Heart-The shape should be self-explanatory as the heart-shaped diamond universally symbolizes love
•	Marquise-The marquise can best be described as an elongated pointed-oval cut. It can be set alone or surrounded by round or pear-cut diamonds
•	Oval-An elongated round diamond. The length to width ratio varies, while maintaining a distinct oval shape
•	Pear-The pear cut diamond, also commonly referred to as a teardrop, is much wider at the top and comes to a point at the bottom or tip
•	Princess-This cut is square in shape (some are a bit rectangle in shape) and has pointed corners. This is a very popular cut for engagement rings
•	Radiant –The radiant cut diamond is square or slightly rectangular in shape. The corners of a radiant diamond are slightly flat-trimmed on the corners
•	Round-Also commonly referred to as a solitaire, the round diamond is the most common for engagement rings. Their popularity stems from the abundance, fire and brilliance of these diamonds. Round diamonds are the most studied cut of diamond in the world

When purchasing that special diamond ring, make sure to buy for the person who will be wearing the ring and be sure to review the diamond certificate. You want them to have what suits their personality and the style that will compliment their hands. Diamonds are a lifetime investment, so do some research and choose wisely.

Diamonds For Men

For a very long time, diamonds have been considered an adornment for strictly women. However, since the 1970’s, during a diamond resurgence, men have been seen sporting a diamond ring, cuff links, or tie pins here and there. It just seems that the diamond market has never really been able to convince men that diamonds can be a man’s best friend as well.

Maybe since men generally purchase diamonds for women, it is time that women do the same for men. Diamonds are a luxury, but they are still affordable for everyone. Here are a few ideas for those of you who would like to see your husband, father, son, or boyfriend enjoying jewelry as much as you do.

Diamond necklaces are not just for women any more. Necklaces for men come in a variety of styles. Maybe it is because of patriotism or because of the focus that we have on war, dog tags (sometimes referred to as pendants) are in style! And they are not just military issue any more-they are sharp and come in a variety of designs-and metals. The nicest ones are gold, silver, or platinum and are adorned with small diamonds. They can even be personally engraved with any personal message, as there is plenty of room.

Depending on personal religious conviction, you might want to consider purchasing a cross for the man or men in your life. Masculine crosses are on the market and a lot are adorned with a small diamond near the top or in the center.

Diamond rings for men don’t look like they used to. You might be thinking of the over-sized diamond signet ring where the diamond is set in black onyx. While those are great for some men, others want something a bit more understated. Well, now they are available. As with most jewelry, men’s diamond rings can be gold, white gold, silver, or platinum. They come in a variety of sizes and styles and fit the bill of classy understatement. While some are still square, completely round rings are found and will look great on the right man. Circular diamond rings resembles wedding bands but are a little wider.

Diamond wedding bands are not restricted to the ring finger of women any more. There are some beautiful men’s rings on the market that are set with a single diamond or encrusted with several diamonds.

Key chains aren’t just for carrying keys any longer. They have become a signature of style symbolizing who we are and what we drive. They may also be considered a symbol of social status-depending on which vehicle that the keys fit in. Many key chains are elegant and are diamond-studded.

Money Clips are great for the man who does not like to carry a cumbersome wallet or does not like to pull his entire wallet out every time he is making a purchase. You can find a wide range of money clips at jewelry or department stores. They can be simple or stylish and dressy.

Most all of these diamond jewelry items can be purchased with little research or shopping and without breaking your budget. Giving him a special gift of diamonds will make a statement and, believe it or not, men like diamonds too.

Real Way How to Spot A Fake Diamond

In this world of advanced technology it is almost impossible to simply look at a diamond and determine whether it is real or not – especially if you don’t know much about diamonds. There are some steps that you can take to avoid buying a fake diamond, however.

First, only deal with reputable jewelers, and when you find a reputable jeweler, stick with them. Avoid buying diamonds or other jewelry from jewelers that you have never dealt with before in the past. Ask to see the certificate for the stone. If no certificate exists, walk away.

Look at the setting that the stone is in. Fake diamonds, such as zirconias, are usually set
in low quality metals. Take a close look at the stone. Fake diamonds are not durable – natural diamonds, on the other hand, are the most durable stone on the planet. Look for scratches or nicks.

After purchasing a diamond, take it to another jeweler for appraisal. In fact, take it to two or three other jewelers for an appraisal to make sure that the appraisals are all fairly close. If you find that you have purchased a fake diamond, you may be accused of making a switch when you return to the store
of your purchase; therefore, it is important to have a certificate for the diamond. No two stones are alike.

Buying Diamonds Online

With all of the potential for scams concerning
diamonds, buying diamonds online almost
seems unthinkable! However, you actually
can purchase diamonds online, without any
problems – as long as you are careful.

First, think about your reasons for wanting to
purchase the diamond online, as opposed to
making a purchase from a local jewelry store.
The most common reason is price. Due to
low overhead costs, online jewelers and
wholesalers are able to offer lower prices.
However, you must be careful – sometimes
a price that is too low is a sure indication of
a scam.

One of the best things about purchasing
online is the unlimited selection. When
shopping offline, you are limited to the
selection in the stores in your general area.
Online, there are no limits. But again, you
must use a great deal of care and
consideration before handing your money
over to someone that you cannot see and
have never met!

Before shopping, learn as much as you can
about diamonds – especially cut, color,
clarity and carat weights. When you are
knowledgeable about diamonds, it will be
harder for a con artist to rip you off. Once
you know more about diamonds, you will be
ready to start shopping.

Take your time. Don’t purchase the first
diamond that you see that interests you.
Instead, look for similar diamonds for sale.
Do some comparison shopping to find the
lowest prices. Once you have found the
lowest price, start doing your investigation.
You know about diamonds, you’ve found a
diamond that you love, and you’ve found the
lowest price – but you are still quite a ways
away from actually purchasing that diamond!

Ask about the seller’s credentials, such as
professional jewelry associations that they
belong to. View and print the seller’s return,
refund, and upgrade policies. Also inquire
about additional services, such as settings
and mountings, sizing, and free shipping. Do
a search for customer reviews on this
particular company around the Internet. Also
check with the BBB Online to see if there have
been any complaints.

Ask for a diamond grading report from an
independent laboratory such as GIA, HRD,
EGL or AGS. You should see this before
making a purchase. Finally, use a reputable
escrow service for high dollar diamonds –
preferably one that will have the diamond
appraised while it is in their possession. The
seller sends the diamond to the escrow
service, and you send the money to pay for
the diamond to the escrow service. The
escrow service has the diamond appraised,
sends the diamond to you, and sends the
money to the seller. This is the surest way to
protect yourself…again, make sure that you
use a reputable escrow service!

Some Critical Tips For Planning Your Wedding

When you first get engaged, the excitement and anticipation of getting married can feel exhilarating. Eventually, you’ll need to sit down and create a plan that all but ensures that your ceremony and reception are perfect. A lot of your success is going to be in the details, many of which you may not even realize matter. If you neglect them, you may regret it later. Below, we’ll give you a quick list of 4 items that you should include in your plan leading up to your big day.

#1 – Look At The Calendar

Avoid scheduling your wedding on a holiday. A lot of families and couples plan their vacations around them in order to take advantage of the extended weekend. That’s not limited to Thanksgiving and Christmas, by the way. Memorial Day, Columbus Day, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day can also cause a problem.

#2 – Rank Your Guest List

Ideally, you’d be able to invite everyone you know. But, the financial reality is that doing so is usually cost-prohibitive. After you and your partner have compiled your guest list, start ranking each person on it. Your respective parents, siblings, and closest friends should be near the top. Other friends and family that you speak with less frequently should be prioritized under them. Near the bottom, place your neighbors and that uncle you only see at reunions.

When the time comes to cut your guest list (and it will come), you’ll be able to start cutting according to each guest’s priority.

#3 – Reserve Room Blocks

Chances are, you’ll need to reserve several hotel rooms for your guests. After the reception, they may be too tired to make the long trek home. The good news is that plenty of hotels will be happy to reserve an entire block of rooms for you at a discounted per-room price. What’s more, they’ll often give you the flexibility to release the rooms you don’t need weeks before your wedding. As you can imagine, the earlier you reserve your block, the better.

#4 – Get A Rewards Credit Card

Here’s a tip that a lot of newly married couples wish they would have acted upon. As soon as you get engaged, get a rewards credit card that offers airline miles or other deals. Then, use that card exclusively for every purchase (even if you have the cash on hand). You’ll likely end up charging thousands of dollars which you may be able to redeem for free airline tickets and other gifts.

Millions of engaged couples think they’re well-prepared for planning their weddings. Many of them realize later that they could have reduced their stress, saved money, and eliminated a lot of frustration had they done things differently. Use the 4 tips above to plan early and help ensure that your wedding day is perfect.
